JPs Guide Service, is a Humptulips River Guide booking King and Coho Salmon Trips On the Humptulips River and Surrounding systems. This year we are allowed to kill two hatchery chinook per angler in September. One hatchery coho and one chinook or two coho combination in October. JP’s Guide Service specializes in fishing the Humptulips River. This is my home river from King Salmon staring in September to trophy steelhead in march. I also specialize in offering guided trips on surrounding systems for salmon as well such as the Queets, Clearwater, Wynoochee and Upper Quinault. Primary tactics for targetting coastal chinook on my trips include: Float and Egg Cocktails, Back-bouncing and Twitching jigs.
Coho Guided Trips (October-November)
The Coho run will begin to return in late September and start to really come full swing by the end of October. By November, we will switch to straight Coho with the peak usually around the middle the month extending until thanksgiving. The big native coho show very well 2nd week of November until thanksgiving. During this time the B-Run of hatchery coho also blends in making November a prime month to chase chrome olympic peninsula coho. The limit for coho varies on each system I fish, some allow 2 adults wild retention while some only allow 2 adults hatchery retention. No doubt the biggest Coho are in November and make for a wild experience, twitching jigs and ripping spinners in pockets makes for a great entertaining guided trip. Brand new Gloomis IMX twitch rods paired with Stradic CI4+ reels for 2017, on my guided trips I’m only offering only the best gear. I’ll be extending my services to 3 different river system for coho this year.
